WHAT IS THE DC WAVE FESTIVAL?
One day free celebratory event hosted by the membership of Blackberry Acres, LLC in partnership with Deeds of Kindness to promote healthy lifestyles and awareness of holistic services and support at an all-inclusive site. The purpose of this event is to let people know that community services and assistance are available for District residents experiencing hardships.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE DC WAVE FESTIVAL?
Journey to Wellness and Freedom
Upon entering the festival, attendees will be encouraged to navigate vendors that represent specific dimensions of wellness. Attendees will be given a passport to be stamped as they visit each village. The vendors will be offering free on-site services for participants. These services may include, but are not limited to: financial advice, a barber shop providing haircuts, workout sessions hosted by professional trainers, housing or homeownership assistance, chair massages and health screenings.
DC Wave Stage
Heads up! With The DC Wave Festival in full swing. The Wave Stage is the place to catch some of the amazing regional talent. The Wave Stage will feature a variety of live entertainment & performers lending their support to the day.
Back-to-School Zone
Community-based organizations (CBO) and local vendors will be on-site to provide children and youth between grades K through 12 back-to-school materials to jump-start their 2022 - 2023 school year. Additionally, CBOs will be available to discuss action steps to address truancy.
Community Collaboration
Our goal this year is to enhance current partnerships and build new ones in a variety of creative strategies. Our vision is that by connecting to new organizations and businesses, we will be able to reach more children, youth, young adults and families. WHY IS THE DC WAVE FESTIVAL IMPORTANT?
DC Wave Festival presents a holistic process that includes every aspect of the eight dimensions of wellness. By producing this event, we will provide opportunities for attendees to engage with local business and restaurants, community-based organizations and local entertainment to become educated on how the eight dimensions of wellness work together to create a healthy person and a healthy community while having fun.

WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF WELLNESS?
Your participation in the DC Wave Festival will help us inform, educate, and raise awareness about the 8 dimensions of wellness. Resources and supports are carefully curated using the MAI PEACE™ wellness areas to create a village of vendors, entertainment and children/youth zone. Special activities will emphasize the importance of wellness, social justice, arts/entertainment and financial freedom.
